You are excited about the idea of using more HR Analytics in your job. “This is the way of the future”, you think, and you are preparing yourself by getting the training you need.

However, your HR Department is typical of those in the Caribbean. It operates mostly on paper, while only a savvy few use spreadsheets consistently. It’s an all-manual operation.

At this rate, there never will be much data to analyze.

And the idea of bringing in an HRIS like those offered by IBM, Oracle and SAP won’t happen anytime soon. They are meant for companies with more than 1,000 employees at a minimum. And the cost reflects that of a product sold in the developing world.

Finally, the challenge of bending a foreign HRIS to local needs is formidable. None are built for the Caribbean, with its unique laws and customs. Programmers would have to make the software compatible for practical use.

I met Juliana Samuel from St Lucia about a year ago, and it took a while to discover that she was more than an HR Practitioner. In fact, she had recently invested a significant portion of her savings in automating the most manual parts of her prior job.

How? Miraculously, she taught herself to be a system designer. Without ever taking a formal course in basic coding. Then she hired a programmer.

Cut a long story short…the end-product is HRHelper. It’s an end-to-end HRIS that automates the functions she used to do everyday. And it’s available now at a price that will make you stop to think.

If it works as designed, an HRIS that is suitable for regional use may not be that far away in the future. Think of the most repetitive, boring, repetitious, mundane parts of your job as an HR Practitioner…gone. Hours turn into seconds. HR clerks…no longer needed. Mistakes which embarrass the department…a thing of the past.

But more importantly, you get a free gift: People Analytics. Like every HRIS, HRHelper generates lots of data for the processes it automate.

So throw away your exercise books. And prepare to export data from that spreadsheet. The time is coming when a lightweight, cost-effective, regional software solution is coming to your department. It may not be Juliana’s programme, but the fact is…something automated is coming. And it will generate the kind of data you need to manage your department’s business effectively.

How do you prepare for the inevitable? I suggest you start by gaining an understanding of HRHelper as an easy-to-comprehend solution. She has just created a demo which you can run without help.

Step 1: Visit the standalone demo and view all the functions.

Step 2: Sign up for the free trial at the end of the demo

Step 3: Set time aside to attend Juliana’s live demo on Friday evening of the conference. It’s in the same time/place as the Networking session.

Step 4: Contact her to set up a demo presentation.

Thes steps will help you build your knowledge and experience so that you can one day (soon!) make a case to your CEO, IT and anyone else who will listen: that it’s time to invest in an HRIS.

Francis

P.S. Thanks to Juliana and HRHelper for being a sponsor of our conference.
